Marathon Information

NEW MARATHON COURSE coming for 2018

The course will be close to 42.195km as humanly possible without having the course AIMS certified. We will use all of the following forms of measurement:

  • GPS - using two separate devices
  • Measuring wheel
  • Vehicle/bike odometers

Start Information

Start area - Tongariro North Domain access lane (behind tennis courts).

Start time 7.30am - a waved start with runners first followed by walkers.

Aid Stations

Drink stations (with water and GU Brew) will be positioned at approximately the 7, 11, 15, 21, 26, 30, 35, 37, and 40km points.

There are toilets at all aid stations and approximately every 2kms along the course from the 21km mark.

Cut Off Times

  • 7km -    9.00
  • 11km - 10.00
  • 15km - 10.45
  • 21km - 12.00
  • 26km - 13.00
  • 30km - 14.00
  • 35km - 15.00
  • 37km - 15.30
  • 40km - 16.00
  • Finish - 16.30

Half Marathon Information

A loop course, mostly on a flat scenic road on the edge of Lake Taupo. Starting at the Tongariro Domain (Great Lake Centre) the course goes along Lake Terrace and the highway, all the way out to Mahuta Road from there the course returns along the lake edge pavements back to the Tongariro Domain.

  • 9.00am - half marathon runners in waves
  • 9.10am approx - half marathon walkers in waves

The safety briefing will be given at the start line. All entrants must be present!

Aid Stations

Drink stations (with water and GU Brew) will be positioned at approximately the 5, 9, 14, 16 and 19km points.

There is a mix of public toilets and portaloos approximately every 2kms along the course.

First Aid will be available on the course by a roving Peak Safety team member.

10KM Information

A scenic out and back course along the lakefront to 2 Mile Bay.

Start Information

Start area - Tongariro North Domain access lane (behind tennis courts).

  • 9.50am - 10k - runners first followed by walkers

Kids Dash INformation

KIDS DASH Course Course Map

A one mile loop through the southern domain and back to finish. Entrants must be accompanied by an adult on course at all times. Parents aren't required to enter or register. The Kids Run is a family friendly event and therefore baby buggies/prams can be used.

General Course Information

All courses are marshalled and signposted. The courses are not suitable for wheelchairs and all entrants must complete the same course. Please obey marshalls at all times.

No dogs on the courses please! Supporters and spectators must not accompany runners and walkers at any stage during the event.
